What are the differences between the four light sources in COB, LED, SMD and MCOB lighting industry?

The light sources of lighting products are relatively abundant. The four commonly used light sources are COB, LED, SMD, and MCOB. When purchasing lighting products, how to choose a light source? What are the differences between these four light sources?

LED light source (LED refers to Light Emitting Diode) is a light-emitting diode light source. This kind of light source has the advantages of small size, long life and high efficiency. LED light source is the most widely used in the lighting field.

LED light source types:

1. Ring light source: directly illuminates the top of the object to be measured

2. Strip light source: The three illumination effects are direct, oblique and metering.

3. Linear light source: It has a focusing effect and high brightness can shorten the camera exposure time.

4. Return-type light source: The angle can be adjusted to suit different characteristics of the object to be measured and the working distance.

5. Backlight: illuminate from the back of the object to be tested

6. External coaxial reflective light source: The side light source can illuminate the object under test in parallel through the spectroscope.

7. Inner coaxial point light source: needs to be used with a coaxial lens.

8. Hemispherical ridge light source: The light source can be diffused by the diffusion cover to form a uniform irradiation area.

COB light source is a high-efficiency integrated surface light source technology that directly attaches LED chips to a high-reflectivity mirror metal substrate. This technology eliminates the concept of brackets, no electroplating, no reflow soldering, and no patching process, so the process is reduced by nearly three thirds. One, the cost is also saved by one-third.

The COB light source is electrically stable, the circuit design, optical design, and heat dissipation design are scientific and reasonable, and the heat sink process technology is used to ensure that the LED has an industry-leading thermal lumen maintenance rate. It facilitates the secondary optical matching of the product and improves the lighting quality.

In addition, the COB light source is simple to install and easy to use, which reduces the difficulty of lamp design and saves lamp processing and subsequent maintenance costs.

COB light sources are currently widely used in lighting strips, spotlights, downlights, fluorescent lamps, street lamps and other lighting fixtures.

SMD light source is a surface-mounted light-emitting diode with a large light-emitting angle, which can reach 120-160°. Compared with the early plug-in packaging, it has the characteristics of high efficiency, good precision, low soldering rate, light weight and small size.

MCOB light source is an expansion of the cob packaging process. MCOB packaging places the chip directly in the optical cup. Each single chip is coated with phosphor and the dispensing lamp process is completed. The LED chip light is concentrated inside the cup, allowing more light to escape. The more ports that emit light, the higher the light efficiency. The efficiency of MCOB low-power chip packaging is generally higher than that of high-power chip packaging.
